A Hidden Truth
In that moment I lost a lifetime,
My childhood innocence gone.
Taken at the hands of a man so brutal,
To him was I simply a pawn?
Left broken, abandoned, and scarred,
For all roving eyes to see,
I hid myself in the sudden darkness,
I didn’t want them to see ME!
And there I kept myself from harm,
A recluse to the world outside.
With nothing but my wits about me,
An angel must have been my guide.
This story does not end in darkness,
Because she steps into the light.
With an endless thirst for wisdom,
Enlightenment was in her sight.
She found her strength in knowledge,
With a kinship for the written word.
Her silent demeanour a fortress,
For a secret never heard.
